This vast area has it all – tree skiing, open powder bowls, couloirs, steeps and a marked itinerary that offers great bump skiing, so it is fair to say it has something to offer for every type of skier.
Vallon d’Arbi is a stunning valley that can be accessed from the main ski runs of Lac de vaux, the entrance is visible to the left of the red piste skiing back to the lift. The orange netting and the official sign stating if the area is open or closed makes the entry to this ski area very obvious. It may also be worth noting to see if the telecabin from La Tzoumaz is running and make sure you give yourself enough time to reach the La Tzoumaz lift station, as taxi ride back to verbier would be expensive!!
The narrow track that leads you to this spectacular area is dug out by tractor which provides most with a sensation of adventure, from the track take traverse round and there you will see the endless possibilities that this place offers. There are also a handful of couloirs that access this valley, but due to the increased exposure, we advise taking an off piste guide.
La tzoumaz – Savoleyres
The exit from Vallon d’Arby is at the foot of the valley where you can see the poles at the bottom of the marked itinerary route. The path back to La Tzoumaz is a 5-10min pole out, where you finally pop out next to the lower pistes of Savoleyres.
